Tue Sep 10, 2013 8:52 pm by Positivevibe

I just moved from Chennai, I am looking for admission for my 6 year old kid.
After my extensive search, understand that I can place my kid only in international school, as both of us are holding only professional visa.

Can someone suggest me, if there is any private or tamil school which will admit foreign national?

Do you send your kids to private tuition after school or do you teach them yourselves? What are the pros and cons of sending kids to private tuition after school? Is it an unnecessary burden for the kids or is it seen as much needed assistance for the kids in terms of education?

A follow up to the discussion we started way back in the little india days. I found this one article dated Jan 2008 about the now famous International Irish University which i was following closely. It was quite an elaborate operation with graduation ceremonies etc.

Now the website is empty.

Private School

Tue Sep 09, 2008 11:41 pm by VJeyaa

Can someone from the education line give me some pointers about private schooling? I have been thinking about this recently as my daughter has come of enrollment age to the primary school. My current considerations are:

1. Sekolah Sri Murni
2. Sekolah Sri Chempaka
3. Convent Bukit Nenas (my personal preference)

We are also thinking of registering to a nearby Govt school, as a "just in …

lets talk about KLIBOR,actually KLIBOR is called Kuala Lumpur Interbank Offered Rate.
BLR which is 6.60% + X.XX%, KLIBOR rate is KLIBOR + X.XX%. it is the average interest rate at which term deposits are offered between prime banks in the Malaysian wholesale money market or interbank market.BNM announce that BLR is no longer relevant by next year and will replaced with new framework rate, that is KLIBOR.u can find out more from this article
thestar.com.my/Business/Business-News/2014/01/17/Proposals-on-new-framework-called-Bank-Negara-to-issue-consultative-paper-on-new-reference-rate-that/
Conventional Home loans make use of Base Lending Rate (BLR) as reference rate to determine the interest rate will replace with KLIBOR-pegged housing loan used KLIBOR as reference rate to determine the interest rate by 2015. The difference between KLIBOR-pegged home loan and Converntional BLR-pegged home loan is the fluctuating nature of KLIBOR,
KLIBOR changes every 3 months and I think that KLIBOR is definitely more attractive in terms of rate, sometimes KLIBOR could be lower than BLR-interest.

Susanyee, do consider base on the package which come with lowest interest rate and best value added package.

If u see the above image, in the past years,  from 2008-2013, the 3 mth KLIBOR rate is at the lower rate compare to BLR. There is always a strong correlation between BLR and KLIBOR. The  effective interest’s rate now based on BLR -2.5% and KLIBOR +1 % are the same at the moment.

i found this weblink: exim.com.my/interest-rates and u can check the KLIBOR rate from here.
u can get the rate from The Star,News Strait Times, China Press, Nanyang Siang Pau, Sin Chew Daily
there are 2 banks that have KLIBOR home loan package, both are
Standard Chartered Bank and Hong Leong Bank.
there is good news for u actually KLIBOR loan that Hong Leong Bank offers has one more advantage - it's a flexi home loan.
