Tamil School

Lets discuss about the pros and cons about Tamil eductaion. Would you send your kids to the Tamil school and why you would or wouldnt?

TAMIL SCHOOL...........because I don't want a 'tudung' wearing malay teacher teach Mathematics to my kid by saying "4 push 1 is 3".

i may not send my children 2 tamil skol cuz i 1 my children 2 mix wit other races.but definetly i ll send my children 2 tamil class.
but tiz oso depend on my future wife view...

I don't mind sending my kids to Tamil schools if their standard is equal to those in KL .I'm not talking about the quality of teachers but physical condition of the school.

Some schools here are too deprived even of some basic amenities.

Will definitely give my kids the best in education. Knowledge is power... so dont want them to memerize 4 push 1 is 3..... tat's degrading even on common grounds! As for tamil lessons.... will send them for special classes in tamil.... need them to learn all 3 basic languages.... so tat when they get into troubled situations they can speak themselves out of it! I am not saying tamil schools r not good enuf for my kids.... just tat they need to b an all-rounder...and i agree with purple... kids need to communicate with other races as well..... benchmark for knowledge....

i wont..he can learn tamil at home..prefer to send for chinese or hindi school

bangla speaks Hindi?.......hmmm....i should befriend one just to learn Hindi...we never know how useful it will be since India is emerging as one of the superpower nation....... alien

Hi Guys, Please read the below and attach highlights for all Tamilians/Indians in Malaysia. Hope people can change and support tamil school all the way. This year UPSR results have tremendous improvement (515 students with 7A. Many are 6A). Don't you agree with me. Only we as community can get united to make changes!!! Please forward to all Tamilians.
Why one should send his/her kids to Tamil schools !!
1. That the kids can grow up in a superior environment. Often kids send to Sks will be out numbered. Being a minority in a malay dominated class these Indian kids will be suffering from inferiority complex.This will leave impact for rest of their life.
2. How many Indian kids will be chosen as prefects , class leaders , librarians and so on in which they gain leadership qualities compare to a Tamil school ?
3. Tamil school beside covering the syallabus , also covers the culture part . Have any SKs celeberated Saraswathy poojai , ponggal , Hindu New Year and so on ??? Have they been told of any of our epics in SKs..? Would they knew any Thirukurals ?? Would they recognise Bharathi , Thiruvalluvar , Kambar , owaiyar and so on in SKs..?? These are the back bones of our community. Not knowing these aspects in ones life is a set back of a community.
4. By having Tamil schools , the government HAVE to provide job opportunites to Indians!! Having all tamil schools closed will surely bring down the amount of Indian government staffs !!!!!
5. By having Tamil schools .we may have School bus owners, Book shop owners , Cantin operators, and so on. Thousands of Indians will be benefitting from tamil schools. Who wouldprovide living for them if these schools were shut? The government..???
6. No matter what , the tamil school teachers are much more dedicated compare to those in SK towards our kids. Have'nt we heard cases where SK teachers calling our beloved inncocent kids as k..ings !! Why would we wanna let this happen to our kids.
7. I knew a school which organises Bhratha naatiyam , Silambam and Sangeetham with very low monthly charge as their co curiculam activities. Can you expect this in a SK ???
8. If we were to compare the current syllabus in SKT and SK..there is not much different. Infact in SKT beside the normal syllabus we are learning Tamil as well. So why send the kids to SKs !!
9. We have a responsibility to bring our community for a long journey ..into centuries to come. So do not act foolish by even suggesting to bring down the Tamil schools.
10. And Please don't ask what the Tamil school can do for us.. Ask what we can offer to Tamil schools beside waiting for the government to act..!!

great piece...anyway..

no 1. I disagree about the superior environment.Our kids in Tamil schools are the one in disadvantage situation in this case. They face problem to mingle with other races when they are in secondary school.

no 2,3,4,5..... agree with him

no.6. Not all Tamil school teachers are dedicated and not all SK teachers are biased towards Indian kids. We just presume that being Indian in Tamil school will protect us from hurtful remarks and so on. Unfortunately, it happens every where.

Of course,I agree that Tamil schools should be there for us.

Like mirg has pointed out, I too disagree with #1.

I dont see the superiority of being cocooned away from the other race kids. The kids will lack the needed competition which reflects the real world situation where one has to compete against other races, often NOT on a level playing field and other disadvantages. Dont get me wrong, I am not saying that sending kids to Tamil schools is wrong. That is an individual choice based on many factors. What I am saying is just that using the invalid logic of assuming "superiority in seclusion" is wrong.
